A “Different” Fashion!

Fashion – as we all know – seems to exist only for those who wear “small” size. Most of us wear “large” and “extra large” sizes, we are not models and our physical appearance is ordinary and not extraordinary. So, in this world, if you are not skinny, tall and beautiful that means you are out of fashion…. and this is unfair.

If you seem to be a plus size, the chances are very few you can fit in a dress that is designed for it by a well-known designer. Also, if you belong to other social groups such as people with disabilities or incommensurate body structure the chances are even lower. Our golden years can also be added to the categories above as we do not usually meet older models or a special fashion show that can easily be part of. Maternity fashion could also be a good idea for a designer to make the difference; unfortunately, nobody dares something like that.

Men’s fashion and kid’s fashion are also fashion categories that we rarely meet on catwalks. That happens because most of the designers design items for the skinny, tall and young woman and most events are created to meet these standards. Apart from catwalks, all areas that are being referred to fashion such as magazines, beauty contests etc. keep these standards intact. Are we really ready to make a step forward in fashion? Maybe yes! Maybe we need a little bit more time to get used to the diversity!!!Α

Black & White trend is always in fashion. «Black is poetic. How do you imagine a poet? In a bright yellow jacket? Probably not» Ann Demeulemeester has said, definetely true. The inventor of the now-iconic ‘little black dress’ and ‘little black jacket’ (which was the subject of a recent exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery), Coco Chanel was a famous lover of the colour. As well as white that also has its fans. White is simple, bright and positive. Those two together make the perfect and lovable combination that everyone has tried at least once. Black and white always look modern, whatever the word means! You don’t have to spend time worrying what accessories will coordinate this style.

The colors black and white have always been considered within many cultures. In western culture black and white symbolize good and evil, or light and dark. Yin and Yang together are depicting the total. In Chinese philosophy Yin and Yang describes how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected and interdependent in the natural world and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another.
And here comes the black and white photography. At first, might seem like a strange romanticized anachronism but in fact is not at all. This kind of photography has persisted as an ultimate choice for many photographers engaged in photojournalism etc. There is a retro look in this kind of art.

Fjällräven Polar 2019-Greece Participates with Chris Vassiliadis

For those who love adventure and are not afraid of taking risks in tough weather conditions. I would like to introduce you the Arctic Circle experience which is called “Fjällräven Polar”. Fjällräven Polar is a 300 km winter adventure north of the Arctic Circle. It offers a unique opportunity for those who have not spent much time outdoors during the winter to go on the adventure of their life. It’s a chance to navigate a dog sled on your own in what appears to be inhospitable wilderness – across barren tundra and frozen lakes and through mountain forests weighted with snow. They will spend nights in a tent or under the open sky, perhaps accompanied by the northern lights. The journey starts at the edge of the Norwegian fjords in Signaldalen and finishes at Jukkasjärvi area in Swedish Lapland.

Many countries participate, between them is Greece. Last year Vaggelis Vassiliadis joined the experience but this time we vote for his brother, Chris Vassiliadis. What we can do? Just join and vote for him!

Greece can do it!

Scotland International Fashion Festival 2018 in Glasgow

img_6554

It’s time to announce the great news. An exceptional event was organized by Humera Rana, co-founder and creative director, and Naveed Rana, co-founder and operational director of the SIFF 2018. Well done to their achievement.

Amazing designers were gathered in Scotland at Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport as they attended this year’s Scotland International Fashion Festival. Lots of unique designs were presented and we had the opportunity to watch different creations that were all fantastic.

Known couturier were Karen Gold, Rinaldo Girasoli, Iris Rodriguez, Mary Martin  London, Rizwan Ahmed, Humera Rana Haute Couture, Toshiko Cave, Royal Punjaban Bridal Wear, 4 Seasons, Aliyah Gems by Somia, Jewelz UK by Hardeep Kaur. Each one expressed their own “fashion philosophy” and ‘’fashion style’’. Stunning formal gowns of different cultural backgrounds appeared on the show having the signature of each designer. Haute couture was part of this festival as some of the designers chose something extraordinary to showcase for this event. Delicate coats combined with unique hats gave their own presence and the colors that were presented took off the show!

We’re looking forward to more great events.

SIFF really – fashionably – rocks!!!
